Columbus SL Niobium Tubing
In the 1970's the original Flandria pro team bikes were constructed using tubing from Italian manufacturer Columbus. Their SL tube set was considered to be the best available. The evolution of that tube set is Columbus SL Niobium.
A special micro alloyed steel with Manganese, Chrome, Nickel, Molybdenum and Niobium, it is designed to provide better mechanical properties and greater resistance to atmospheric corrosion than conventional carbon steels.
Columbus SL Niobium is triple butted and only used for top-of-the-line and competition frames where lightness and high reliability are fundamental.
With our SL Niobium models, we recreated as near as possible the look, feel and ride of the original pro issue frames on which the Flandria legend was forged. Traditional geometry, 27.2mm seat post diameter, 1 inch fork. We also factored in a few welcome modern upgrades, such as semi-verical race dropouts, down tube cable stops for modern shifters, a second set of bottle cage bosses on the seat tube, and threadless fork steerer tube.
The frame is only available in Flandria Red, with gold lug lining, and with the options of either completely painted frame and fork, or for total luxury, chromed and highly polished fork, right hand chain stay and dropouts.
In keeping with the frame, the fork is constructed from Columbus steel
